SLS
SLS Technology
SLS technology (Selective Laser Sintering) is based on building layer by layer models by selectively sintering pulverised thermoplastic material inside a heated chamber. SLS is offering high durability PA12 parts with very similar properties to standard injection moulded PA12. Our customers can also build parts with 30% glass or aluminium filled materials. Models made of aluminium filled polyamide called Alumide has got this special metal like surface though it is composite with low heat and voltage conductivity.
This technology is perfect for short series production (100-2000pcs) of small parts due to the very low material costs and excellent material properties. The surface quality can be relatively good depending on how thick material layers are used (layer thicknesses range from 0,06 to 0,18mm).
SLS is not always suitable for building large flat surfaces without any stiffening ribs due to material warp which can cause distortions.

PA12 material is quite difficult to post process but there are known methods for surface enhancement like smoothing and colour dyes, painting.
